Girl's camp with Kourtney!

This year girls camp was a special one for me. Not only did I get to spend four days with with some terrific girls, I was able to spend it with my own daughter Kourtney. It was one of those moments in my life I will never forget! In only a few short months she will enter the Young Woman's program as a beehive. We both think it's pretty exciting that I am her very first Young Woman's leader! This is definitely a time where my little girl transforms into a young lady. We had so much fun at camp this year. Our theme for this year was, "The Happiest Place on Earth". We spent four day at Palisades State park camping, canoeing, swimming, hiking, playing games, and swatting mosquitoes! The first night we were there we went and saw the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti, Utah witch was just a few miles away. It was a neat experience for the girls. Many of them were able to share their testimonies with others who didn't share their same beliefs. Kourt loved the lake! Canoeing was one of her favorite things! She was on the lake practically all day with her friends. My favorite part was hearing the sweet girls bare their testimonies of their beliefs and friendships during testimony meeting. Kourt bore such a sweet testimony and I was a proud mom with lots of tears! It was definitely a special time for me as a leader and a mother!

Tuacahn
While we were in southern Utah for grandpa's birthday, several of us had the opportunity to see The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. The girls were thrilled and thought it was even better that they were able to see it with several of their cousins. I have to say I thought it was fabulous! I sat next to Makell and she was in "awe" practically the whole time. In the beginning, water rushed down over the rocks to cover the stage. Makell leaned over and whispered to me, "Mom, is that real water"? She just couldn't believe what she was seeing. If you have the chance to go, do it! I think it's the best one I have seen. With it being several hours long and after a long day at the pool, some of the little one's just could keep their little eyes open through it all. Makell is still talking about it!

Grandpa Heaton turns 90!
Grandpa Heaton celebrated his 90th birthday this year, and the family had an Open House and dinner to honor and celebrate with him! It was great to spend time with the extended family! Grandpa was on cloud nine! Grandma said he had been looking forward to this event for months! We enjoyed decorating the church with Teresa in preparation for the Open House! It was perfect for grandpa and the occasion! It looked like a little bit of sunshine. Just the thing grandpa is known for! There was a steady line of people (two hours) that came to congratulate him. He is a very well liked and admired individual. Adam and Maresa made all the guests ice cream cones as they went to visit and mingle with one another. Later that evening we held a family dinner in grandpa's honor. The food was fabulous with BBQ ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. I loved reading through the memory book that was made for grandpa. Many people wrote down a memory about grandpa. To my amazement every one's remarks were different. It was awesome to see what kind of an effect an individual can have on others, and not really know until later on in life. It was such a fun event and I'm so glad we were apart of it! Happy Birthday grandpa!
