Annual Campout!

Once again it was time for our annual "camp out" in the backyard. We actually had to postpone it for a night because of thunderstorms and rain! The girls get so excited to do this! As Adam was putting up the tent, the girls ran around him in circles more times than I could count. We popped popcorn and watched a movie while we were all snuggled under blankets. The next morning, Adam and I were surprised to see everything still intact. It was one of the windiest nights! The girls informed us they slept really well and stayed nice and warm! Lets just say Adam and I were ready for a nap later that day! We had pancakes the next morning and the girls had fun spending the morning playing in the tent together!

Our Graduate!

Here is one of our graduates! I love her smile! That smile describes this school year perfectly! Kourtney told us that this year has been the best one ever! We asked her why and she told us it was because of her teacher! Not only did Kourt really like Mr. Scoubes, but we as parents did too! Kourtney thinks he is the funniest person ever! She loved telling us all the funny things he would say and do! Kourtney has always enjoyed school but this year she has LOVED it! Mr. Scoubes has made a lasting impression on her. His class room was a fun place to learn. I loved the fact that I always received a hug from Kourtney at the school because it was one of his rules! He would tell his students, that moms and dads deserve them and it's the "cool" thing to do! :) I will take one every chance I get!
Kourtney received the Principals Award for Excellence this year! She was so excited and is such a wonderful student! We are so proud of her and for the hard work and accomplishments! She is an awesome example. Congratulations Kourtney! Keep up the good work!

Another Graduate!

She's movin on! Kaitlyn just finished her 2nd grade year! I am having a hard time with the realization that the year is over! I remember when she was starting Kindergarten and thinking It would be quite sometime before she would be called our little third grader! Kaitlyn has had a really great year. I really love seeing the progress one can make in a years time. She loves reading! I am so grateful that our kids love school! It's easy to do well when you enjoy what you are doing! Kaitlyn's teacher, Mrs. Page has made learning so much fun! One of Kaitlyn's favorite things this year was writing spelling words with shaving cream on her desk!
This year Kaitlyn received the award for the student that always gave 11o%. Mrs. Page said she could always count on Kaitlyn to go the extra mile! We are so proud of the wonderful student Kaitlyn is! Congratulations Kaitlyn! Keep up the good work!

Kaitlyn loves her friends! These three little girls were practically inseparable this year! (Emily, Shilyn, & Kaitlyn)

It's In!

Well, we finally were able to get some of the garden planted! I was wondering if it was ever going to happen this year! Can you believe we had a few inches of snow on the 25th of May? New record for the latest snow fall! I have been very anxious in getting things going. I absolutely loved watching things come to life last year and have had the "itch" of doing it all over again. We planted several different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, carrots, lettuce, onions, cucumbers, herbs, peas, and bush beans. When I was at the nursery, I came across a habanero pepper plant. Adam has watched people on television eat them whole, and thinks it is the funniest thing as their face starts to get red and sweaty and they almost die! He thinks they wouldn't have the same effect on him since he really likes hot things. So... I bought one so he can try it! When they are ready to harvest, I will have to post more pictures! I can't wait! I think I will be the one laughing! :)
I planted a few rows of peas. I was hoping to make a few more boxes this year but things just didn't turn out! I decided to do with what I had.
Grandpa and Grandma Heaton brought up some onion starts when they came for Kaitlyn's baptism. I think the cool weather nipped the tops but they have come back and look really good now.

Pampered!

I was volunteered by the other two girls to be the lucky one Makell could try out her nail painting skills on! I guess you can say it was my lucky day! lol! Thank goodness I was able to choose my own color. Can you guess what color I chose without looking at the picture? A nice pale glittery pink. She wanted to use bright red, but gave in when I asked for pink! What a sweetie! After she finished each finger, she would look up at me so I could give her the approval to move to the next finger! Needless to say she did a pretty good job! I had polish remover and cotton balls near by, but didn't end up using any of it! If anyone needs their nails painted I am sure Makell would more than willing!

Happy Mother's Day!

"Mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take."
Cardinal Mernillod
Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there! How blessed I am to be a mother! I am forever grateful for these three wonderful little girls in my life! As a little girl once myself, I remember playing with baby dolls and pretending like they were my own children. I remember how fun and excited I would get thinking about my life as I grew older and became a mother. Now that I am living that dream, it is far more wonderful that I ever could have imagined!

"A Mothers Most Important Role Is to Love Her Family Above All Else.
Know that there is no roll in life more essential and more eternal than that of motherhood."
M. Russell Ballard

I am so grateful for my mother! She has taught me more than anyone else, and she has taught me things that I would have never learned from anyone else! As I read this quote from M. Russell Ballard, his words describe my mother perfectly! Now that I am older and a mother myself, I truly appreciate all that my mother did for me and my siblings. I always knew that we were more important to her than anything else! When we would come home from school she was there to greet us at the door and ask us how our day went. She would not only chauffeur each one of us in a different direction, but would be our biggest fans at every event we were participating in. When we needed to call home she was always there! She is a strong rock spiritually for all of us! She leads by example! She is always putting others before her self. She is one of the greatest examples of love and service! I am grateful that her "motherhood job" was her priority in life! My goal is to be the kind of mother she is! On Mother's Day, Kaitlyn said, "Have you noticed what grammy does every time she sees us? She always grabs us to give us a big hug and kiss on our cheek!" That is so my mom! Even on her special day she is making others feel special too! Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Hope Of America

This past week, Kourtney's school choir group was invited to participate in the Hope Of America concert at BYU. This is an event that has taken them months to prepare for. The kids wore red, white, and blue tee-shirts to form the American Flag. There were over eight thousands students that participated. They had performances two different nights because it has become so popular. They sang several patriotic songs that incorporated American Sign Language, flags, videos, and flash lights! They announced that Utah County is one of the most patriotic county's in the Nation!

Isn't it awesome to know that these kids are our future and our "Hope Of America!"

They honored the boy scouts as it is their 100th year anniversary! They had different groups throughout the night perform. One of the crowds favorites were the Golden Girls. It's a group of older women that dance together. At the end of their performance a 93 year old lady danced solo and ended with the splits! The crowd went crazy!

For the very last song of the evening, they turned the lights out in the Marriott Center, and the choir sang using flash lights. Some of the lyrics were: Let your light so shine. Shinning every where. All across America, showing people that we care. We can turn the darkest night into the brightest day!

Kaitlyn and Makell, along with thousands of others held up cell phones as tiny lights filled the Marriott Center. They thought it was the neatest thing!

It's Great to be 8!

What a special day for Kaitlyn! Kaitlyn was baptised and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has been waiting for this day for a long time. She was sooooo excited that morning! I wished I could have counted how many times she asked me that morning if it was time to go yet! She couldn't wait to get there! She had this huge grin on her face all day! There was also a nine year old convert that was baptised with Kaitlyn. He is such a sweet boy. Kaitlyn's day was extremely special as she had asked her grandma Lori and grandpa Paul to speak at her baptism. Some of grandmas talk was about the promises we make and what our responsibility is as a member of the church. She referred to primary songs to help them remember. Grandpa talked about the Holy Ghost and how it is a tool. He gave Kaitlyn and Angel both a white bag with gifts in it that would help them remember how the Holy Ghost can help them through their journey in life. He gave them a light and a compass and compaired it to the Holy Ghost! They did an amazing job! She has so many people that love and support her. The chapel was full of her family and friends. We are grateful for those who came to support her! There were several people that traveled long distances to be there. After her baptism, we continued to celebrate with a luncheon at the house. It was a fun time for her as she was able to play with her cousins and friends. We are so proud of you Kaitlyn for making this wonderful decision to follow Jesus!
