2nd Annual Heaton "Campout"!
Camping Heaton style means setting up a tent in the back yard, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over an open flame, and laughing till you are sick and can't move! Last year to celebrate the last night of school we decided we would go camping! Since the girls enjoyed it so much we decided to do it again this year! Who knows, maybe it will become a new family tradition..... or maybe not! I am sure as the girls get older the last thing they would want to do is spend the night in a tent with their parents and wake up with aches and pains! Adam and I will continue to enjoy it as long as we can! I love spending time together as a family! I know it's times like these that we will reminisce about later on in life!

Our Graduates!
Another year has come and gone! I can't believe it! It seems like yesterday I was dropping them off for their first day of school and bawling my eyes out! I am so proud of these little girls!Kourtney has continued to progress so much this year! She is such a smarty! She catches on to things so fast! She has had a wonderful year with a wonderful teacher! Mrs. Shepherd made the school year so fun for the kids! Kourtney would come home and tell us that Mrs. Shepherd is soooo funny or Mrs. Shepherd said the funniest thing today! She knew how to put a smile on Kourts face! We love her!
We are so proud of Kaitlyn! She has really excelled this year! She loves reading and does it so well! She really enjoys chapter books! Kaitlyn's favorite things in first grade were spelling, her teacher, and friends! Mrs. Bates is absolutely wonderful! She knows how to inspire the kids to do their best! We love her too!
Makell had the privilege of attending pre-school with Miss Trisha this year! She had so much fun and looked forward to going every week. She did so many fun activities with the kids! Her love for children was so evident! Makell still gets so excited when she sees her! Many times we hear Makell holler, " There is Miss Trisha! She's my teacher"! Makell also attended a preschool through the school district for speech. They taught her tongue placement so she could make the right sounds. I loved going with her because it taught me how to help her at home. Even Kourtney and Kaitlyn would make sure she made the correct sounds! She had a lot of help:)! We are amazed at the progress she has made in just six months! The speech therapists were very impressed as well! We are so proud of her! It's teachers like these that leave such strong impressions upon us!

A Day Spent Fishing!
I love this time of year! Since it was the Memorial Day weekend we went to the cemetery to put flowers on the graves of our loved ones. I love the cemetery this time of year. It is absolutely beautiful with every color you can possibly imagine. The girls love hearing about their great grandparents lives who they never had a chance to meet . After the cemetery we decided to spend the remainder of the day fishing. The girls loved it! I am so glad because it gives Adam the chance to do something "manly" instead of all the "girly" things he gets roped into:)! Since we got a late start we decided we would go up to the reservoir. Recently we heard the reservoir was planted with 6,000 white albino trout. Kourtney is becoming quite the fisherman! She had the first catch of the day! You should see that girl cast! Very impressive! Kaitlyn also snagged a few as well. She is the most patient little fisherman ever! Her pole never moved unless she had a bite! If you know Kaitlyn you will understand why this was such a shocker to me:)! Makell was more excited seeing fish swim right in front of us than holding a pole. Makell would holler at Adam with excitement: "GET IT DAD, GET IT. IT'S RIGHT THERE"! So funny! We knew it was time to pack up and head out when we saw all three girls holding sticks instead of their fishing poles playing in the water:)! Typical kids!

Un avant-gout de Belgique!
Bruges Waffles and Frites(fries)! Adam took the family to a new place to experience a little part of his mission in Belgium. He heard from a former missionary companion that there was a new place in SLC that just opened with authentic Belgium waffles and frites! If any of you know someone that has been there, this food is the talk of many conversations! It actually entertaining to watch people get so excited about these! Adam was patient as long as he could stand and decided to take us there for family night. Call us crazy, but yes we drove to downtown SLC for fries and waffles! Watching him in the car was pretty funny. I had to tell him to slow down more than once:)!When we walked in the owner was sooo friendly! I loved his accent! He talked to the kids and myself and then after Adam told him that he had lived in Belgium the rest was history. As you can guess from then on we had no clue what they were talking about:)! It was really cool to hear the two of them talk back and forth in french! We don't get to hear Adam talk like that very often. I'm sure the girls and I had puzzled looks on our faces because every now and then they would laugh and say something in English to us.
Adam and his frites! Adam said that many times he and his companion would stop and buy these on their way home from tracking. He said the sauces were to die for! Their fry sauces are nothing like the typical American fry sauce. I have to agree! The sauces were excellent! The fries were excellent as well! They are cooked twice. They cook the fies and lay them out to cool, then right before they serve then to you they cook them again which makes the center really soft and the outside very crunchy! Yummy!
Everyone enjoying their frites! The girls loved the idea that they are served in cones and with a small fork.
After the frites we experienced the authentic Belgium waffle! They make the dough with large sugar crystal mixed through out! I guess that is what they are know for(waffles and of course chocolate). The owner has sugar crystals imported from Belgium so they are the real deal! He even had imported Belgium chocolate! Can you guess what Adam and the girls had on their waffles? Yep, chocolate and fresh strawberries! I chose the plain and it was sooooo good!

The Garden
After reading several different articles & the book on square foot gardens we decided we would try it this year. I have looked back at Rayn's several times:)! Thanks Rayn! This has been a crazy year as far as the weather goes. There were several nights in May that the temperature got down to near freezing. A few nights Adam and I were out covering the boxes with plastic trying to prevent the plants from getting nipped leaves and dying. As we were planting these boxes I was amazed as to how much we were planting. The boxes include the following: tomatoes (Roma's & regular), cucumbers, bell peppers, Anaheim pepper, jalapenos, onions, carrot's, beets, bibb lettuce, romaine lettuce, egg plant, cilantro, basil, rosemary, & sage. There are even a few open squares to be able to replant and rotate because you don't plant the same thing in the same square after harvest. I am sooo excited about this. We also planted more tomatoes, peppers, and peas in the regular garden space wanting to see if there is a difference in harvest:). The next step will be putting the trellis up for the tomatoes and cucumbers.
I think I have gone out everyday for the past couple weeks hoping to see some little thing popping out of the soil! Well a few days ago guess what?! The beets, carrot's, and lettuce are out of the ground:)! I hope it continues to grow! I'm crossing my fingers:)!

Mother's Day Surprises!
I have to say I feel like the luckiest mom ever! Sunday I received the special treatment with breakfast in bed! The girls put this all together by themselves. It was so sweet! They even brought me an extra napkin to wipe off all the excess butter from the fabulous toast:)! The girls made me the cutest homemade gifts ever! Kourtney gave me a bookmark and flowers that have such sweet saying on them. Kaitlyn gave me a sweet card and a coupon book. I asked her if there was a limited amount of uses or if they expired. Her answer was No. I'm predicting she will change her answer before long:)! Makell drew me some pictures. One was a picture of her and I playing outside. So sweet! After all that, it got even better! I got hugs and kisses from each of them and they told me how much they loved me. They are such sweet girls! They make life so wonderful!Adam spoiled me as well! Last weekend Adam and I had the opportunity of having a break/getaway in sunny St. George. It was great to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Heaton! It was so warm and "quiet"! Adam spent one day in meetings so that meant I had a day to myself. I went to the temple in the morning and shopping the rest of the day! I love the outlets and found some great things for "mother's day";)! I love flowers and especially the ones you can plant outside because they last all summer long:)! Adam went to the nursery and purchased what I wanted for my planters! I am so grateful to be a mother/wife! I am especially grateful for the wonder examples of mothers that surround me! I love my mother so much! She has taught me some many "key" things that have helped/taught me to become a mother! She's the best! I have the best grandmothers(Alice & Vivian)! They have so much wisdom! They are the footstep that I try to follow! I am so fortunate to have such wonderful mother-in-laws! Lori and Kim are the best! They live so far away but I really look up to them in who they are and what they do!

Beware!
I have to post about this because I thought this was quite funny! I laughed when I opened the envelope and laughed even harder when I saw Adam's reaction to it! In a stack of mail yesterday there was a statement from UVRM. I figured it was from Adam's "ELBOW & ARM" surgery back in mid February. I was looking through the information and noticed the description of service. He went in for a torn elbow and nerve decompression and (according to their records) a female exam! lol! I told him maybe they were feeling a little generous and wanted to go the extra mile for him that day! I wish you could have witnessed his response:)! He said he is going to take the statement with him to his apt. next week and ask the Dr. what exactly he did to him! lol! Beware! You never know what could happen when you are in a deep sleep!
